Meet Our Team

Tania Banathy, Ph.D.cc, MT, HT(ASCP)

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

I didn’t set out to start a company. I just kept seeing the same problems in every lab I worked in — and no one fixing them. After decades in the field, I knew how to build something better. That’s what AnaPath is.

Labs have been my world for decades. I’ve handled the work from the ground up — running teams, reseting workflows, and stepping into the mess when others stepped back. That’s the kind of experience AnaPath is built on.

AnaPath came out of all that experience. It’s what happens when you take years of hands-on work, layer in empathy, and then refuse to do business as usual. I saw techs overwhelmed, systems strained, and no one stepping in with the kind of help that truly understands the work. So I stepped in.

Over time, my leadership work evolved into something deeper. I’ve published white papers, presented on workforce development and adult learning, and I’m currently pursuing a PhD focused on experimental leadership in clinical lab settings. My research explores how systems thinking, empathy, and task-based accountability can reshape how we lead — especially in high-pressure environments. That perspective shapes everything we do at AnaPath.

At the core, I care about showing up, doing excellent work, and being a partner labs can count on — someone who speaks the language, respects the pressure, and has walked in their shoes. AnaPath is built from experience, driven by empathy, and grounded in a kind of leadership that comes from doing the job, not just managing it.

Anna Burgos, HT(ASCP)

Chief Scientific Officer

With over 36 years of experience in histology, my journey has been one of curiosity, dedication, and a deep respect for the science behind diagnosis. I’ve always believed that histology allows us to unravel the mysteries of the human body—one tissue sample at a time.

My career began in 1988 at Aiken Regional Hospital, shortly after earning my associate’s degree in histotechnology from the University of Maryland. Since then, I’ve worked across both routine and complex testing environments, honing my technical skills while staying grounded in the core values of precision, quality, and patient care. Along the way, I also earned certifications in phlebotomy and as a medical assistant, further broadening my ability to support patients and clinical teams.

What continues to drive me is the opportunity to contribute to a field that plays such a vital role in healthcare. I’m passionate about accurate, timely diagnostics and take pride in being a dependable part of the patient care process. Whether it’s in the lab or out in the community, my goal has always been to help where it matters most.

Outside of work, I’m an active volunteer with the Cherish Hope Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. I contribute my time, resources, and compassion by helping provide food, hygiene supplies, and a sense of dignity to those in need.

With a dynamic career spanning multiple industries and continents, my professional journey has been anything but ordinary. I began in recruitment, interviewing candidates and matching them with roles in top-tier banks, engineering firms, and legal offices. That early experience taught me the value of understanding people, their skills, and how they fit into larger systems.

As technology evolved, so did I—transitioning into the world of computers as a word processing instructor and later writing programs to transfer data from mainframes to usable formats. I developed templates that made information not only accessible but beautifully presentable.

My curiosity and adaptability led me into software testing, where I worked on Alpha and Beta releases of Microsoft Office suites. I authored test plans to ensure the software met technical specs and trained sales teams on how to effectively communicate the value of these tools to clients.

Later, I joined an international communications company, where I corresponded with clients across the globe. I also organized and executed trade shows worldwide—from booking flights and coordinating accommodations to managing on-site logistics and booth setup.

Throughout each chapter of my career, I've cultivated a strong foundation in planning, communication, and execution—always ready to take on new challenges with resourcefulness and confidence.
